Description:
Zuercher Technologies is currently seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator. You’ll be responsible for provisioning, configuring, maintaining, optimizing, and monitoring mission critical services and the hardware that provides them. You will help us continue to provide a robust and fault tolerant platform for our company and customers in 911 dispatch centers and law enforcement agencies across the country.
Responsibilities:
• Set up, manage and monitor servers
• Troubleshoot network and other problems
• Verify integrity of hardware, software, and server resources
• Setup and manage virtual machines
• Configure and maintain Apache, PostgreSQL and other services
• Manage network file shares
• Manage user accounts
• Ensure security on a variety of network applications
• Configure, maintain, and test data backup operations
• Repair and recover from hardware failures
• Review system and application logs regularly
• Apply software patches and upgrades
• Develop and maintain contingency plans
• Identify deficiencies and recommend improvements in infrastructure
Requirements:
• Extensive Linux systems experience
• Strong skills in bash scripting and other Unix tools
• Experience with network tools such as bind, apache, samba, ssh, iptables, etc.
• Knowledgeable about network hardware and protocols
• Able to choose, install, and configure server hardware especially RAID configurations
• Some Python, Perl or similar programming experience
• Able to compile from source
• Permanent legal right to work in the U.S.
• This is a full time position in our Sioux Falls, SD office
Desired:
• Experience with Ubuntu Linux including package creation and management
• Database optimization at the server level
• Microsoft Windows system administration experience
• Adept at Python as a scripting language
• Knowledgeable about virtual machine management
