Lutheran Social Services Mentoring Services empower youth to succeed by establishing trusting relationships with adult volunteers. This position will assist the program by serving as a volunteer recruiter. Members will plan and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy that includes public relations activities, presentations, and special events. Members will also work to support existing volunteers by assisting with appreciation events, training and checking in with current volunteers to assist with volunteer retention efforts.

Requirements:
Energetic, enthusiastic and a strong desire to work with potential adult volunteers who want to make a difference in the life of a child. Must be comfortable with public speaking and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have a valid driver’s license. This is an AmeriCorps position that requires a one year commitment to complete 900 hours of service (an additional three years of service are possible). AmeriCorps members need to be team-orientated, motivated individuals with a passion for serving and learning. Members will be compensated through a monthly stipend and upon completion of service, will receive an Education Award that can be used for higher education purposes only (current tuition or repayment of federally backed student loans).
SALARY: $7900 annual stipend (paid in equal amounts each month) plus education award of $2,750 upon successful completion of service.
