HOURS: Very flexible Monday-Friday schedule. Some evening and weekend hours required.
RESPONSIBILITIES: New Beginnings Center is a group care facility licensed to serve boys and girls ages 10 to 17 who have emotional, behavioral and educational challenges. New Beginnings Center offers a comprehensive treatment program, a specialized education program and opportunities for community involvement. This position will lead classes in pre-employment skills, work one-to-one on job applications and interview practice, transport clients to job interviews, coach clients on workplace behavior and relationships once employment is obtained and work with potential employers to identify specific job finding skills and work behaviors to improve job options for clients.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS: Energetic, enthusiastic and a strong desire to work with young adults. Must have basic knowledge of employment norms and regulations. Must be comfortable with public speaking and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have a valid driver’s license. This is an AmeriCorps position that requires a one year commitment to complete 900 hours of service (an additional three years of service are possible). AmeriCorps members need to be team-orientated, motivated individuals with a passion for serving and learning. Members will be compensated through a monthly stipend and upon completion of service, will receive an Education Award that can be used for higher education purposes only (current tuition or repayment of federally backed student loans). Must be at least 21 years old.
SALARY: $7900 annual stipend (paid in equal amounts each month) plus education award of $2,750 upon successful completion of service.
