Description:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Full compliment of custodial duties to include but not limited to floor and building maintenance.
3:30 p.m. to Midnight shift to start. Excellent benefits and opportunity for advancement.
Starting salary is $11.68 per hour plus a night incentive of an additional $.50 per hour.
June, July, and August are daytime hours without night incentive pay.
The District accepts applications for custodial trainee positions year-round.
Essential Duties:
Sweeps, dusts, arranges furniture, empties trash and pencil sharpeners, cleans chalk boards and sets up for activities. Washes walls, woodwork and windows, and cleans and polishes metal surfaces. Cleans and maintains hard and soft surface floors. Wet mops and spot cleans hard and soft surface floors. Cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes restrooms and locker rooms.
Assists in the maintenance of lawns, landscaping, concrete and blacktop surfaces and playgrounds, including pedestrian walkways snow and ice removal.
Operates heating, A/C, ventilation, electrical and mechanical systems. Operations will be limited to turning equipment on/off and/or setting day/night cycles.
Assists in the setups and tear downs for school activities.
Observes and reports needed repair of equipment,furnishings, fixtures, building and site.
Secures building rooms at the conclusion of shift.
Works a revised schedule and substitutes for other custodial staff when necessary.
Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day and weekend activities with other custodial staff.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
Good Attendance. Ability to communicate and follow written and oral direction. Ability to demonstrate recognition of equipment malfunction. Positive attitude towards people with whom one works, ability to work cooperatively and willingness to accept instructions and training. Works modified assignments as necessary.
Ability to drive to more than one location during a work shift. Good physical health including ability to lift 75 pounds, climb to high and difficult places and work at those places. Must be able to pass pre-employment physical, if new employee. Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing and walking. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers. Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting and stooping. Occasional climbing and crawling.
Occasionally subjected to mechanical and electrical hazards, extreme temperatures and humidity. Atmospheric conditions occasionally include fumes and dust. Caution necessary to avoid harm from misuse of chemicals.
This position is an entry level training position. Individuals will train for a minimum of 12 months at a high school, obtain boiler training, and rotate into a weekend shift at the high school. Once training is complete, they will be eligible for advancement.
