PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Ensure each store operates in a profitable, safe and inviting manner, resolve customer issues to satisfaction within guidelines, encourage and motivate co-workers, foster good community relations, and ensure customer receives the Ideal Customer Experience (ICE) while shopping at Kum & Go.
1. Recruit, hire, train and develop the best personnel. Coach and develop a successful team of co-workers that consistently surpasses our customers’ needs with excellent service. Percent of job 25%
2. Collaborate with District Sales Supervisor to diagnose and resolve issues. Identify trends and develop targets for the betterment of the organization. Maximize store sales with merchandise programs, schematics, point-of-sale materials, and plus selling programs. Percent of job: 25%
3. Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing company standards. Assess store condition and customer service levels. Percent of job: 25%
4. Manage controllable cost by educating staff on procedures for reducing inventory shrink, managing salary, cash, margin objective and day –to-day operations expenses. Percent of job: 25%

EDUCATION: 2 years post-secondary school required, or significant equivalent work experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES: None.
EXPERIENCE: 2 years retail management required, 1 – 2 years in same role preferred.
DECISION MAKING: Empowered to resolve customer complaints or requests within usual operating boundaries. Refers more complex issues to District Sales Supervisor.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS or ABILITIES: Ability to use Windows-based PC applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook). Ability to maintain calm and courteous demeanor to customers in fast paced environment. Ability to be a good listener, provide guidance in supportive and instructive manner. Assists customers with questions, or in resolving problems.
PRIMARY WORK LOCATION: Store environment, may include outdoors to maintain appearance and cleanliness of store property (windows, sidewalks, trash, etc.).
LEVEL OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The associate will have access to upper management as needed, but will be expected to work independently without close supervision.
LEVEL OF SUPERVISION GIVEN TO OTHERS: The associate will have hourly direct reports, with responsibility for training, input into performance review, salary increases, promotions, discipline, and termination.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB: Normal store environment, primarily standing or walking, may lift up to 60 pounds to move stock. Ability to maintain store cleanliness and appearance, inside and outside. Ability to navigate in small spaces (cooler, back rooms, sheds). Ability to stand for 8 to 10 hours 6 days a week, bend at knees repeatedly (20 – 30 times a day), walk briskly. Able to read PC monitor for long periods of time. Ability to shovel snow, sweep.
