Description:
SUMMARY
Prepares Cad geometry for cutting and/or cutting and punching with laser, plasma, and flame table machines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyzes drawings, sketches, design data, and quantities of parts to determine dimension and configuration for programming.
Ensure geometry is correct, fix geometry if required, prior to programming.
Create nest documents for Production Control and Engineering.
Update database for nests and parts.
Enter production material requirements into 4th Shift Business Software.
Possess software knowledge of AutoCad, Striker, Microsoft Office and basics of Pro-Engineer.
Work with Engineers on errors or ways to optimize parts. To include gang bending, commonline cutting, laser etching, etc.
Work with Production Control for planning and run size quantities.
Work with Cost Estimating on occasion for material requirements in new estimates.
Work with Machine Operators to optimize nests and fix issues.
Work with Subcontract cutting suppliers to ensure proper data is transferred, revisions are updated, and special requirements are understood.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate's degree (A. A.) in drafting or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
