SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, coordinates and designs products and tooling for customers (internal and external). Sets a positive example for the department; motivates the team, recognizes accomplishments, corrects mistakes, enforces company policies, follows the process control system, follows health and safety policies, upholds and lives up to the Angus-Palm Code.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES
Schedules work through area to meet customer requirements. Designs products or tooling, using Auto-Cad or Pro-Engineer software, for efficient use of labor and materials in accordance with established company procedures. Works with associates on the product as required to meet deadlines.

Ensures good communication flow throughout area of responsibility. Communicates with management on all significant issues.

Ensures all products in Engineering have a plan for fabrication, welding, painting, assembly or shipping to internal or external customer specification.

Researches and prepares the requisitions for materials required for the project or tooling.

Ensures all work documentation (dimensional inspection sheets, acceptance tags, Engineering Unit Inspection Sheets, prints) are coordinated and issued for shop use. Ensures associates understand the proper use of the documentation. Monitors documentation for compliance to the quality system.

Troubleshoots specific problem areas in regard to process and technique. Works with associates to facilitate corrective actions.

May be asked to acclimate new associates into existing team; help facilitate/coach job specific training. Assist with issues/questions that arise in work area.

Makes recommendations to Director of Engineering for improvements in the Engineering Department or other.

Maintains good housekeeping, health and safety standards within work area.

Perform other duties and projects as requested and assigned by the Director of Engineering. Provide assistance in other job classifications as determined necessary by immediate supervisor.

Education and/or Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability
• Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of respective area.
• Ability to coordinate work activities and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Computer aided design skills are required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products including spreadsheets.
• Demonstrated professionalism and flexibility in dealing with a wide variety of people;
• Ability to project a positive, professional image to both employees and external contacts

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blue prints, and detailed instructions. Ability to write memos and reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, and associates.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in metric and standard units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to convert standard units of measure to metric and metric to standard.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to solve routine concerns and complaints of associates where some standardization or documentation exists.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear, use hands. Specific vision abilities required by this position include ability to see small detail, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; seldom lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Work will be done in both an office and in production shop environment. There is exposure to paint chemicals, fumes, and dust.
