We are a small child care and learning center located in Lennox, SD. We are currently seeking a highly professional, dedicated, qualified person to fill a key position at our center. We are a small childcare center and enroll children 4 weeks to 12 years. We are open Monday -- Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Our primary objective is to provide a safe, fun learning environment that meets all the development and growing needs of the children. You will have a chance to be creative, be part of a supportive team, and make a difference in the lives of children.
The following is a list of activities and job functions for which the Center Director has primary responsibility. The Center Director will be required to perform other duties as needed to maintain the Center at an optimal level for all children, their families and all staff.
? Interviewing and hiring qualified staff, after seeking approval for staff.
? Providing appropriate orientation and training.
? Supervising staff on an on-going basis, including the development of work plans.
? Informing staff of licensure requirements and policy changes
? Locating appropriate training opportunities and making accommodations for staff to attend.
? Scheduling to maintain an efficient number of staff to meet the center's needs.
? Providing support to staff and maintaining employee confidentiality.
? Maintain current and accurate staff records (including all SD licensing required components)
? Complete enrollment information (including applications, immunization and allergy records)
? Ensure children's records are current and accurate (includes all SD licensing required components).
? Ensure the center meets all SD licensing requirements. This includes, but is not limited to:
? Standards of health and safety (Sanitation)
? Learning environment
? Nutrition and food preparation
? Physical safety and well-being of children and staff
? Establishing and executing policies and procedures to ensure the well being of children, such as:
? Developmentally appropriate curriculum
? Positive Behavior Management Plans
? Safe arrival and departure
? Maintaining an environment that is tolerant and respectful of child and family cultures, values and differences.
? Establishing relationships with individual children and families and being responsive to their needs.
? Provide care in classrooms as needed to meet safety and licensing regulations.
? Provide families with information and assistance with community resources.
? Report evidence of suspected abuse/ neglect to local Department of Social Services.
3) Center Operation
? Maintain the facility in accordance with SD licensing standards
? Maintain center records (includes emergency drills; building, fire and sanitation inspections)
? Assist owners in developing and updating personnel and operational procedures.
? Assist owners with establishing fees and the procedure for obtaining fees.
? Monitor fee payments.
? Request appropriate center supplies for provision of care (food, gloves, toiletries, etc).
? Request materials and supplies for classroom programs and activities.
? Establish and maintain a healthy, safe and fun working environment.
? Prepare and serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines
Education/ Qualifications (must meet one of the following requirements)
? Have a bachelor's degree in the field of education or human development and at least two years of experience in a child care setting;
? Have a bachelor's degree in elementary education and at least two years of experience in a child care setting if the center cares for preschool-aged children;
? Have a bachelor's degree in elementary education if the center cares for school-aged children only;
? Have a bachelor's degree in the field of early childhood education;
? Have an associate of arts degree in the field of early childhood development;
? Be certified as a child development associate;
? Have a prekindergarten teacher endorsement;
? Hold certification in a Montessori teacher training program and have at least one year of experience in Montessori school or child care setting; or
? Have a child development technician diploma.
Preference will be given to candidates that have both a degree in a child-related field and previous experience. The ideal candidates will have demonstrated the ability to establish effective relationships with parents and children, while maintaining high teaching standards and believe the care they provide is invaluable. In this position, you will assume ultimate responsibility for creating and maintaining a nurturing and loving environment for the families we serve. Your ability to maintain our quality standards will be challenged and you must be up for the challenge.
