Job Description

The Assistant Manager sets an ‘upbeat and happy tone’ for the store. He/she ensures that the mission, principles, and Scooter's touchstones are carried out, embraced, and modeled by Baristas in the Store Manager's absence. The Assistant Manager is the Head Barista and a role model for all other Baristas. He/she exhibits a high level of customer service, extensive product knowledge, the ability to assist in training, and attentiveness to store appearance and Barista behavior. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Staff Management
  • Assists the Store Manager with hiring, training, overseeing and retaining employees
  • Primary Barista trainer
  • Assists with scheduling when required
  • Openly conveys customer and Barista feedback to store manager 
  • Enforces dress code
  • Maintains positive employee morale

 

  • Product/Store Management
  • Makes and services specialty coffee and tea beverages
  • Adheres to recipes and safety guidelines
  • Ensures product quality and a premium customer experience while maintaining a pleasant store appearance in the absence of a store manager; maintains safe working conditions
  • Assists with bi-weekly inventory; orders and tracks using COGS
  • Inspects supplies and equipment to ensure they are working properly
  • Performs open/closing procedures and reports as needed
  • Works jointly with Store Manager to ensure all store operations are optimized; that employees comply with health and food safety standards and regulations
  • Covers shifts as needed
  • Covers Store Manager’s duties in Store Manager’s absence

  • Runs errands
  • Attends meetings
  • Performs other functions as directed

 

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Work Experience
High School diploma 
1-2 years of customer service experience required
Must have a current driver’s license


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Must be able to deal professionally and tactfully with customers and staff at all times
Must have good interpersonal communication skills
Must work efficiently in a quick-paced environment; be able to multi-task and prioritize
Must be able to work a flexible schedule
Must be dependable and reliable
Must be able to assist employees while helping to build and lead a skillful, knowledgeable team  


Physical Capabilities Required
Most physical exertion is in the ‘low’ range, requiring exertion of less than 5 pounds of force fairly regularly; however, may occasionally require exertion of up to 25 pounds.  
Job includes major amounts of reaching, standing, walking, talking and hearing 
Must have a sufficient visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned to employees, and to make general inspections of the work area
Environmental conditions include a mild to moderate noise level
