Associate Systems Engineer

Our primary software product, Zuercher Suite, is the public safety software solution to 911 dispatch centers, police departments, sheriff’s offices, and correctional facilities across the country. We are looking for a quick learner that will support, troubleshoot, and implement integrated data exchanges with Zuercher Suite and our customers’ other public safety systems like 911 phones, Fire and EMS software, fingerprinting machines, victim notification services and criminal history databases.

As an Associate Systems Engineer, you will work with customers, third-party vendors, project managers and team members. This position is part of a team that will help train and support you as your knowledge and experience builds in our software and the public safety industry.


• Gain in-depth knowledge of Zuercher Suite software, support and troubleshooting tools, and software-to-software data exchanges (interfaces)
• Act as first tier customer support for issues pertaining to interfaces
• Provide internal support for interfaces
• Troubleshoot connection issues and data exchange errors for interfaces with end customers and third-party vendors
• Work with project managers, customers and third-party vendors to implement Zuercher Suite interfaces
• Install, configure, test, demo, and troubleshoot interfaces
• Maintain and enhance Zuercher internal interface documentation and knowledgebase
• Assist in remote and onsite interface deployment and provide post-go-live troubleshooting and support
• Travel is required for onsite go-live support for deployment and testing of standard interfaces. Expected travel is 10%
• Attained or pursuing Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, computer information systems, system administration, or have related technical field experience
• Experience with basic network setup and troubleshooting
• Previous customer service and support experience desired
• Strong analytical and creative-thinking skills
• Passion for technology and strong technical skills; able to learn new systems and applications quickly
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Exhibit professional interaction with customers and third-party vendors via phone, email, and in person
• Computer software savvy
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized
• Able to move multiple projects forward simultaneously and predictably meet deadlines
• Permanent legal right to work in the U.S.
• This is a full-time position in our Sioux Falls, SD office
Bonus Points For
• Familiarity with various data serialization formats (i.e. XML, JSON) and general understanding of web services or software-to-software integration
• Familiarity with software tools such as Wireshark, Notepad++, Sublime, PGAdminIII, SOAP-UI, PuTTY and web-based ticketing and wiki programs (JIRA, Confluence)
• SQL experience
• Understanding of REST APIs
• Previous experience in public safety or software company
