Job Description

The Minnehaha Country Club is celebrating our 118th year of operations, and we are currently seeking passionate and team-oriented restaurant professionals to join our team.  Minnehaha Country Club operates a robust on-site catering and events operation, as well as two full-service, year-round restaurants.  Minnehaha Country Club is Sioux Falls’ premier country club, operates year-round and serves membership of approximately 740 families.  The Club features an immaculate championship 18-hole golf course and one of the finest restaurants in the region, as well as swimming, tennis, and fitness amenities.

Our Broiler Cook will report to the Windows Sous Chef and assist in the execution of meal service.  Applicants must have open availability. 

 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Broiler Cooks may be full or part-time and have a starting wage of $18.00 - $21.00 based on skill and experience. 

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in kitchen preparation and/or cooking in a club, resort, hotel, or institutional setting is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Daily Broil all meats according to club’s standard recipes. After completing daily priorities, acting as a prep cook to backup line cooks. Running for food and equipment, when necessary, while always helping to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and the standard of the club.   • Sets-up the broiler.
  • Broils and grills all meats on the menu as ordered.
  • Prepares sauces and accompanying garnishes for all broiled and grilled menu items.
  • Requisitions supplies needed.
  • Covers, dates and neatly stores all meats, poultry and seafood.
  • Cleans and sanitizes the boiler station.
  • Sets-up, maintains and breaks down butcher station.
  • Notifies Sous Chef in advance of all expected shortages.
  • Ensures that work station and equipment are clean and sanitary.
  • Makes recommendations for maintenance, repair and upkeep of the broiler area and equipment.
  • When requested, assists with the production of daily specials for restaurants.
  • Sets-up plating line for functions and assists with plating duties.
  • Attends departmental Staff meetings.
  • Assists with other duties as instructed by the Sous Chef.
  • Performs other appropriate assignments and projects as required by Club Management.

Knowledge, Experience and Abilities

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully with managers, kitchen, and dining room personnel.
  • Maintains the highest food safety standards.
  • Follows all safety procedures for operating and cleaning machinery.
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • Able to produce all assigned menu items according to the club’s standard recipes.
  • Helps in other areas of the kitchen during slow periods or when necessary.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
  • Push, pull or lift to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • This is a typical professional kitchen work environment, which may be hot, humid, and noisy.
