Come summer with us at the Minnehaha Country Club! Do you have experience as a babysitter or day care provider? Join the children's center team at the Minnehaha Country Club! We operate small children's care facility and are searching for top notch summer staff to care for and entertain kiddos (typically ranging in age from 1 to 9) this summer. The Club's Childcare Center is open only to Club Members and their guests. Because we are member only, you will also get to know many regularly visiting families with this unique child care position in Sioux Falls. Positions will be available Mid-May through Labor day – apply today!

Compensation and Benefits

  • Children's Center Staff enjoy a starting wage of $17.00 - $20.00 based on experience.    

Requirements

  • General knowledge of children’s growth and development.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • No substantiated history of child abuse or neglect.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Prior experience preferred but not required.
  • Certification in child CPR or willingness to obtain.

Skills

  • General understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms.
  • Strong demonstrated communication and instructional skills.
  • Ability to act as mediator between children; encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments.
  • Cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable.

General responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Program Director to create weekly, written lesson plans covering all areas of growth and development to meet the age-appropriate intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of children.
  • Create a stimulating learning environment, including room arrangement, bulletin boards, seasonal decorations, etc.
  • Ensure parent information is communicated through daily verbal and written communication and or parent conferences.
  • Teach children by modeling appropriate language and behavior.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and attractive learning environment inside and outside the classroom.
  • Maintain appropriate staff to child ratio and consult with the Program Director when help is needed.
  • Participate in recommended professional development training opportunities.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This position requires the ability to be flexible with working hours, this is not a full-time position; weekend and holiday work may be required from time to time.
  • This is a typical childcare environment; you must be able to reach, bend, stretch, twist, stoop, and stand.  Must be able to sit for prolonged periods. 
  • You must be able to push and lift up to 40 pounds safely.
