Job Summary


The Lean Manager is responsible for managing the development, training and implementation of all Lean strategies, systems, processes and activities. We need someone who can balance long-term thinking and short-term execution. The ideal candidate will ensure value delivery to customers, maximize profitable growth, drive quality improvements, provide premier customer service, develop a technically qualified work force, and reduce operating costs, inventories and lead times through continuous improvements.

REQUIREMENTS
Strategy and Development

Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice Lean vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
•Create annual strategy deployment plans with Lean Coordinators and VP of Operations. Prioritize improvement opportunities based upon strategy deployment and tactical planning objectives.
•Develop and maintain lean transformation plan including value stream maps to identify key opportunities to eliminate waste and improve performance based on strategy deployment and business results.

Training and Coaching Lean Concepts

Train, coach and mentor the concepts required to eliminate waste in all aspects of the business in a manner that delivers value to customers, maximizes profitable growth, and enhances the quality of work life for all employees.
•Train and coach leaders and managers to develop their lean transformation understanding and to establish a culture of effective problem solving and continuous improvement.
•Provide lean training and on-going learning and development of all employees in lean improvement tools and communication methods.
•Coach and facilitate teams and individuals to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
•Track progress of Lean Coordinators on their project specific lean plans and employer to implement solutions.

General Leadership / Management Responsibilities

Coordinate and facilitate all Lean activities with the location including events, projects, and any other activity to improve and further lean efforts and ensure execution of transformation plan.
•Drive flow, pull and material management through operations, including supermarket and tugger concepts; cell design with product, material and information flow considerations; Plan for Every Part implementation’ and pull systems and flow concepts in all applicable areas.
•Lead Lean Assessment preparation and develop improvement plan based on assessment results.
•Use Lean techniques to perform process reviews and aid in establishing standardized work procedures.
•Attend and participate in professional group meetings; maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the industry; incorporate new developments to provide a competitive advantage.
•Build partnerships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to meet shared objectives, establish credibility and influence others.

Financial and Budget Control
•Manage and establish metrics to monitor financial savings as compared to established budgets, goals and targets.
•Prepare the annual Lean budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals; manage the budget from identification to completion of projects.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent leadership qualities that allow him/her to take ownership of a project from beginning to end. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a minimum of five (5) years of progressive construction project management. Prefer experience leading the development and implementation of the lean processes in construction industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the essential functions of the position.

Lean Mastery certification preferred. Strong understanding and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and mobile technologies are required.
