Job Status:                  Regular – Full Time    

Reports To:                  Director of Support Services                                    

Job Type:                      Non-exempt                                                       

Position Supervises:   None

Work Schedule:           Full-time position, Monday – Friday, with occasional evenings or weekend assignments

***Eligible for $1,000 Hiring Bonus after 31 days of employment***

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide support in kitchen preparing lunch meals for participants served. Sort donated food items for distribution to program locations. Provide food safety and food service training to staff and adults with disabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS STATEMENT(S)

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Provide training to agency employees in the areas of food safety and USDA child nutrition program guidelines and basic nutrition.
  • Prepare lunch meals for the CHOICES program Monday through Friday.
  • Problem solve and make recommendations related to ordering food and managing workflow for preparation of adequate, nutritious, and appealing meals.
  • Role model and teach food service related skills to employees and adults with disabilities.
  • Responsible for teaching and enforcing cleanliness, sanitation and food safety for the CHOICES program.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in conversations and actions.
  • Must meet all training requirements including ServSafe certification.
  • Communicate food safety or program compliance concerns to the program directors or coordinators.
  • Collaborate with Managing Director of Organizational Health on donated food items and program needs.
  • Serve as a contact between Bread Break and Volunteers of America, Dakotas and manage donations and related documentation.
  • Assist with getting the yearly inventory of food items collected and documented from the sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITIONS QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:                           Minimum of High School diploma.

Experience:                         Must have six months experience with institution meal preparations and have the ability to work well with other professionals and adults with disabilities. Must fully understand nutrition standards and regulations.

Skills:                                    Excellent communication skills.

Certifications & Licenses:   Valid driver’s license and possess reliable transportation.

Other Requirements:           Must be able to work flexible hours.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, manually manipulate, reach outward and above shoulders, speak, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend on a daily basis.
  • Capability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 25lbs on a daily basis.
