Job Description

Correctional Medical Management is passionate about positively changing and impacting mental healthcare for the good of our clients in correctional facilities.  Our locally owned company is seeking a Mental Health Counselor to join our team at the Minnehaha County Jail. You will work in a supportive and safe environment in collaboration with correctional officers to provide quality mental health services to an underserved population. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Provide mental health services to patients with a variety of needs
  • Complete screenings, assessments and evaluations
  • Crisis intervention/management
  • Conduct individual counseling sessions
  • Lead group counseling sessions
  • Create treatment plans for patients
  • Educate patients on treatment plans and coping skills
  • Collaborate with outside facilities and care providers
  • Obtain mental health records from outside facilities to ensure continuity of care
  • Work in collaboration with psych providers
  • Assist in discharge planning and coordination of community resources
  • Maintain detailed records of patient encounters

Requirements:

  • Current state license in one of the following:  Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Graduate of an accredited University
