Job Description
Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing financial services in order to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate, financial operations in the accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and general ledger functions at Southeast Technical College (STC). Provides these services in an effective and efficient manner, and complies with all necessary regulatory reporting, and established policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews all EFT deposits; compiles necessary documentation; prepares electronic funds transfers for approval.
  • Completes monthly bank reconciliations of all STC accounts.
  • Completes monthly reconciliations between the Campus Management System (CMS) and the Sioux Falls School District (SFSD) accounts receivable balances for all funds.
  • Performs quarterly reconciliations between the CMS and the SFSD revenue accounts.
  • Reviews and classifies the Campus Housing Foundation expenditures; prepares vouchers; and assists the Director of Accounting in the preparation of quarterly financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly reports for the SFSD and the Board of Education.
  • Assists in the preparation of surplus property disposals and accounting for STC fixed assets.
  • Responsible for preparing all third party and contract billings; assists in the preparation of journal entry postings to the CMS system.
  • Access computerized financial information to answer specific questions as well as those related to vendor, customer, bank information and employee inquiries.
  • Interact with employees, outside vendors, and external constituents frequently regarding STCs policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Comply with federal, state, and institutional policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Assists in the revision, development, and implementation of STC financial policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and reasonably necessary.


Position Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with an accounting emphasis or major required
  • Experience: Three years related experience. Post-secondary experience preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Busy, walk-in open office area. Constant interruptions and interactions with employees and students on a regular basis. General office environment with standard office equipment available. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Moderate noise levels typical of an office environment due to staff and student conversations and office equipment. Job is mainly sedentary with physical activities normally required in an office environment.
