Job Summary:
The Accounting Associate is a foundational role focused on the execution of day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger support. This position provides hands-on experience in core accounting functions and is designed for someone who is looking to build their career in accounting and finance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Follow all company safety and environmental policies and all federal regulations (OSHA, MSHA, FRA, EPA, DOT)
Order to Cash (Accounts Receivable)
• Process and issue customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
• Apply incoming payments, including ACH and lockbox receipts.
• Assist in preparation and distribution of A/R aging reports.
• Maintain accurate customer records and tax exemption documentation.
• Prepare lien waivers and track acknowledgments.
• Research and respond to basic billing inquiries.
Procure to Pay (Accounts Payable)
• Enter vendor invoices and ensure timely approval routing.
• Assist with vendor setup and maintain accurate vendor records.
• Support corporate credit card transaction reconciliation.
• Ensure timely submission of payments in line with company policy.
• Address and resolve basic vendor inquiries and issues.
General Ledger and Administrative Support
• Assist with routine journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Maintain electronic filing systems and support documentation standards.
• Participate in cross-training to provide backup during team absences.
• Contribute to process improvement and efficiency initiatives as opportunities arise.
• Assist with special projects as identified and assigned.

Education and Experience:
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in an accounting role; internship or coursework experience in accounting will be considered.
Work Environment & Requirements:
• This is a full-time, on-site role, based in-office at the Sioux Falls location.
• Standard business hours apply, with additional hours as needed during closing cycles or project deadlines.
• Work is performed in a well-lit, climate-controlled office setting.
• Requires extended periods of computer use and sitting.
• No significant physical demands beyond standard office activities.
