The hiring range for this position is $24.86/hour to $27.41/hour with a full earning potential of $36.84/hour.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Process weekly accounts payable by verifying accuracy of vouchers, invoices, statements, and receipts. Enter information into record management systems. Compile weekly report for County Commissioners and other County departments. Track and monitor corrections. Perform stop payments and answer accounts payable questions from vendors and other departments.
  • Enter accounting data in the computer and other accounting records. Make routine adjustments and maintain various receipts and expenditure ledgers, making divisions by fund, individual or budgetary account.
  • Assist customers directly or by phone by answering questions regarding County aid liens, accounts payable, election questions, and voter registration questions.
  • Prepare and receive payment from lien payees, courts, collections agencies, title companies, other County departments, and other counties. Ensure proper crediting of payments and follow through with appropriate agency. File liens with other counties. Receive lien reports, and conduct related research. Process billing for grants.
  • Receive, code, and process forms. Create and enter information into spreadsheets. Review and prepare vouchers. Generate and print checks. Prepare monthly tax transmittals to government entities. Compile, print, and mail reports to required entities.
  • Request W-9 information from vendors. Coordinate with other County staff regarding yearly transfer of information to Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Order and mail 1099's to vendors. Monitor and communicate changes in relevant laws.
  • Receive reports from townships and verify accuracy of information.
  • Support election processes by providing information to the general public, processing data and information, and assisting during elections as needed. Perform other Auditor's Office duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed in this Role

High school diploma or GED plus four years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience. Comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Must successfully complete pre-employment background process. Must have familiarity with standard accounting procedures, and thorough knowledge of the principles and methods of clerical accounting. Skills in operating a keyboard and calculator accurately with reasonable speed. Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to maintain complex fiscal records. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other agencies and the public. Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
