Job Description
Dakota Wesleyan University is looking for a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist. This position is responsible for managing and processing all financial transactions related to accounts payable at the University. This includes ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices, reconciliation of accounts and maintaining records in compliance with financial policies.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Receive and review incoming invoices for accuracy and completeness
- Enter invoices into the accounting system
- Ensure proper approval and documentation for each payment
- Process payments through various methods, including checks and electronic transfers
- Maintain relationships with vendors and address any payment-related invoices
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and relevant regulations
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports
- Assist the Business Operations Accountant with other accounting functions
- Communicate with University employees regarding payables processing
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in accounting with a minimum of one year of accounting or bookkeeping work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, of fund accounting, or applicable policies and regulations.
- Able to prepare and audit financial documents and reports
- Problem solving skills and able to work collaboratively
