Job Description

Job Summary:
The Activity Assistant supports the planning and delivery of meaningful and engaging recreational programs for residents in a long-term care facility. This role helps promote residents’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being through group and individual activities tailored to their interests and abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing daily activity programs, including arts and crafts, games, music, outings, and special events.

  • Encourage resident participation and adapt activities to individual needs and abilities.

  • Escort and assist residents to and from activity programs as needed.

  • Maintain accurate attendance records and document resident participation.

  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment.

  • Assist in decorating and setting up for events and seasonal celebrations.

  • Monitor residents during activities and report any concerns or changes in condition to nursing staff.

  • Comply with facility policies, safety guidelines, and infection control standards.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized activity space.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience working with seniors or individuals with cognitive or physical limitations preferred.

  • Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

  • CPR/First Aid certification a plus.
