Job Summary:
The Activity Assistant supports the planning and delivery of meaningful and engaging recreational programs for residents in a long-term care facility. This role helps promote residents’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being through group and individual activities tailored to their interests and abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing daily activity programs, including arts and crafts, games, music, outings, and special events.
Encourage resident participation and adapt activities to individual needs and abilities.
Escort and assist residents to and from activity programs as needed.
Maintain accurate attendance records and document resident participation.
Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment.
Assist in decorating and setting up for events and seasonal celebrations.
Monitor residents during activities and report any concerns or changes in condition to nursing staff.
Comply with facility policies, safety guidelines, and infection control standards.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized activity space.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience working with seniors or individuals with cognitive or physical limitations preferred.
Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
CPR/First Aid certification a plus.
