Are you looking for a rewarding opportunity to support the St Thomas More Newman Center in Vermillion, SD? We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our team.
As an Administrative Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our office on the campus of USD by assisting the Director, Chaplain and FOCUS missionaries with a variety of administrative tasks, including managing correspondence, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records.
Essential Duties:
Administration
- Handle General administrative responsibilities, keeping effective records and clear guidelines.
- Manage finances and budget, working with the diocesan bookkeeper to maintain local financial records and proper integration into the Bloomerang System.
- Develop systems for organization, purchasing and scheduling that stabilize and maintain the Newman Center.
Mission
- Provide hospitality for students and visitors by serving as the first face of contact when entering the Newman Center.
- Manage administrative duties of Marriage Preparation and OCIA classes. Tuesday evening work required.
Facility
- Facilitate the shared spaces of the Newman Center ensuring student and spacing needs are met, maintained, and coordinated clearly and effectively.
- Assist with general caretaking of the Newman Center, including providing oversite to the cleaning company.
Communications
- Maintain and update database records of students, alumni and donors
- Assist with maintaining communication channels for events and activities
Qualifications:
Primary:
- Willingness and ability to effectively make known the Catholic Chur's teachings through the varied ministry activities expected of this position
- Willingness and ability to act as a personal witness to the Catholic Faith and religion by living both one's professional and personal life in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Baptized, Confirmed and active member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Prior experience in office administration or clerical work
- Prior experience working with college aged students
