The desired candidate will possess a commitment to service; rigorous attention to detail and the ability to work in a team oriented environment. The incumbent will provide administrative and statistical work in gathering, compiling, tabulating, computing and editing basic data for statistical reports and studies, establishing and maintaining filing and data systems; preparing monthly and quarterly reports, writing and typing correspondence; answering calls and issuing permits for livestock entering the state. Will work in both state and federal systems. Must be able to use technologies and tools for the transformation of raw data from public sources into meaningful and useful information in a database for analysis purposes, to perform data validation, and to create reports from this data. The goal is to aggregate data from multiple sources into a database that allows for the easy interpretation of large volumes of data. Common functions will be to extract, transform, and load data for search ability and reporting purposes.
This is a Full-Time position with the Department of Agriculture & Natural Resources.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Knowledge of or a background in animal science or the livestock industry is preferred. A background in agriculture would be beneficial. Working knowledge of access database development, Office 365 and database management would also be beneficial.
Knowledge of: - general office procedures;
- business letter writing and English grammar,
- spelling,
- punctuation.
Skill to: - establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships;
- actively listen, elicit needed information and communicate information effectively and accurately;
- utilize computerized data systems (Microsoft Office preferred but not required);
- effectively plan and organize work activities;
- adjust to multiple demands;
- prioritize tasks to complete assignments and meet schedules and deadlines.
Ability to: - assume initiative with minimal supervision;
- gather data;
- reason logically and accurately;
- collaborate with organization to solve problems using common sense, reasoning and resourcefulness;
- obtain and provide information by phone in a clear and courteous manner;
- enter and retrieve data from computer system.
