Asphalt Paving Laborer
Job Description
Department: Myrl & Roy’s
Reports to: Asphalt Forman & Superintendent
Job Summary:
The primary functions of an asphalt paving laborer include preparing, spreading, raking, and compacting hot asphalt to create smooth, durable surfaces like roads and parking lots.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Does not have any direct reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform physical duties of the task assigned.
• Follows all company safety policies.
• Display good communication skills, including the ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions and instructions.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors, and customers.
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sweeping, and removing debris from work areas.
• Raise manholes.
• Apply asphalt by raking, luting, and shoveling hot asphalt mix to the proper grade, thickness, and slope.
• Maintain and operate equipment safely, such as rollers and plate compactors.
• Be able to safely use or operate tools like shovels, hand tampers, power brooms, and hand and power tools.
• All other duties assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.

• Keen attention to detail.
• Good work attendance is a must.
• Ability to work safely in a team environment.
Education and Experience:
• High School diploma or GED
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, squat, bend, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
• Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions.
• Ability to walk on uneven surfaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
