Job Description
The assistant highway superintendent works for the highway department as a member of management. The primary role is to manage subordinate staff in accomplishing the objectives of the superintendent and vicariously, the County Board of Commissioners.
The assistant highway superintendent will coordinate work projects, staff and materials on various job projects which are the responsibility of the department.
The assistant will also work in place of the superintendent when the superintendent is absent or assigns such duties.
The assistant will act as a liaison between the highway maintenance workers and superintendent. The assistant will monitor work activities and ensure that proper care is taken to complete the assignments in a manner which is in the best interest of the department, the commission and the communities within Hand County.
The assistant will have other managerial duties as assigned by the superintendent.
The assistant currently receives an additional $2.00 per hour once appointed.
