Position: Assistant Maintenance Superintendent
Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Wage/Salary: $25.95/hour ($53,976/year)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in planning and maintaining the Bluffs Golf Course.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERVISED:
Works under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent. May assist to coordinate, instruct, or supervise the work of seasonal employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
(Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in a position of this class.)
Operate equipment necessary for grounds and facilities maintenance and other manual labor as necessary.
Assist in organizing, planning and executing necessary structural changes to the grounds or irrigation system.
Mow and fertilize golf course turf.
Apply chemicals to turf to manage pest problems.
Trim trees and brush, remove debris from course facilities.
Maintain equipment and observe safety procedures.
Attend seminars or conferences for continued education and training as allowed by the Golf Course Superintendent and Parks/Recreation Director.
Other duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a high school diploma or GED plus a minimum of 2 years' experience in grounds/parks maintenance or related field. Bachelor's or Associate's degree in landscaping, turf maintenance, or related field is preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of proper loading, transportation and unloading of equipment, and construction materials.
Knowledge of basic and safe equipment operations and preventive maintenance.
Skill in operation of various types of ground maintenance equipment and hand tools.
Skill in operation of various trucks and utility vehicles.
Skill in seeding, fertilizing, aeration, mulching, and general ground preparation for restoration and renovation.
Knowledge of City park system and Bluffs Golf Course to include location of offices, facilities, roads and boundaries.
Knowledge of basic repairs and inspections of fencing, barriers, gates, or other structures.
Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance, drainage, structure and facility maintenance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a valid South Dakota driver’s license and possess or be able to obtain a Pesticide Applicator’s License from the State of South Dakota.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Skid-loader, tractor mowers, commercial riding mowers, pick-up and flat bed trucks, utility vehicles, and hand tools.
