Assistant Project Manager/Estimator

At Sunkota Construction, we deliver high-quality commercial projects across Sioux Falls and the surrounding region. We’re a growing general contractor focused on strong client relationships, efficient project delivery, and developing the next generation of construction leaders.

We are looking for a motivated Assistant Project Manager/Estimator to support our Project Managers and help drive projects from preconstruction through closeout.


Position Overview

The Assistant Project Manager plays a key role in supporting project execution through coordination, documentation, and communication. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow into a full Project Manager role.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with day-to-day project coordination
  • Manage and track submittals, RFIs, and project documentation
  • Help develop and update project schedules and budgets
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff
  • Assist with bid packages, scope reviews, and subcontractor procurement
  • Track and process change orders and project costs
  • Support site visits, progress tracking, and quality control efforts
  • Help coordinate inspections, punch lists, and project closeout
  • Maintain organized project files and clear communication with the team


Qualifications

  • Experience in construction (project engineer, APM, field, or estimating)
  • Degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferable.
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam Revu, or similar tools is a plus
