The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish & Parks is seeking a full-time
Attorney to serve and provide legal services to department staff and associated boards and commissions. This position reports to the General Counsel and is supported by a legal assistant.

Licenses and Certifications:- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- An active license in good standing with the State Bar of South Dakota, or the ability to obtain licensure promptly.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A strong work ethic, excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills, and meaningful communication and interpersonal abilities.
Knowledge of:
- statutes applicable to administrative hearings, procedures, and rules;
- rules of evidence and procedure.
Skill to:
- prepare and analyze legal documents and writing;
- draft and review contracts, leases, and easements;
- identify and apply legal principles;
- corroborate with department staff in drafting statutes and administrative rules.
Ability to:
- provide legal advice and counsel to department staff;
- express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
