Job Title: Auto Body Shop Manager
Department: Operations

Position Summary
The Auto Body Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the body shop, ensuring high-quality repairs, efficient workflow, customer satisfaction, and profitability. This role leads technicians and staff, manages production and scheduling, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production Management
- Oversee daily shop operations, production flow, and repair scheduling
- Ensure vehicles are repaired accurately, efficiently, and on schedule
- Monitor labor efficiency, quality control, and throughput
- Coordinate workload distribution among technicians
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, train, and develop technicians and painters
- Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and performance standards
- Foster a positive and collaborative team culter
- Schedule technician shifts and manage workload distribution
- Conduct performance reviews and manage disciplinary actions as needed
Quality Control & Safety
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer, insurance, and company quality standards
- Perform final inspections prior to vehicle delivery
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure the shop operates in compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, such as those from the Department of Transportation (DOT) and OSHA
Customer & Insurance Relations
- Address customer concerns and ensure high levels of satisfaction
- Work with insurance adjusters and vendors to support repair approvals and supplements
- Ensure clear communication regarding repair status and timelines
Financial & Business Management
- Manage shop profitability, labor costs, parts costs, and operational expenses
- Review estimates, supplements, and invoices for accuracy
- Track KPIs including gross profit, labor hours, and rework rates
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting
Facility & Inventory Management
- Maintain shop equipment, tools, and facility cleanliness
- Oversee parts ordering, inventory control, and vendor relationships
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in collision repair operations
- Prior management or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong understanding of auto body repair processes, estimating, and insurance procedures
- Ability to read and interpret repair estimates and manufacturer guidelines
- Valid driver’s license
