Job Description
1776 is seeking a dependable and skilled Automotive Technician to join our team in Chancellor, South Dakota. This hands-on position focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining cars, pickup trucks, and other company vehicles to keep our fleet safe, reliable, and operating efficiently.
We're looking for a motivated technician who enjoys troubleshooting mechanical problems, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can work independently while contributing to a team-oriented shop environment.

Schedule & Location
- Monday-Friday 8AM - 5PM
- Full-time position
- On-site in Chancellor, South Dakota
What You'll Do
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair cars, pickup trucks, and other company vehicles.
- Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, tire rotations, and inspections.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues using diagnostic tools and technical information.
- Repair and service engines, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, and other vehicle components.
- Inspect vehicles to identify safety concerns and recommend necessary repairs.
- Complete preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend vehicle life.
- Document repairs, labor, parts used, and maintenance performed accurately.
- Communicate vehicle concerns and recommended repairs to shop leadership.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
What We're Looking For
- Previous automotive repair or maintenance experience; 2 or more years preferred.
- Knowledge of automotive systems, preventative maintenance, and diagnostic procedures.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and automotive diagnostic equipment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Technical or trade school training preferred.
- ASE certifications are a plus but are not required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
