South Dakota Wildland Fire is looking for a seasonal employee to work at Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) Bases in various locations in the State of South Dakota. Locations may include Pierre, Hot Springs, and Spearfish.
General Requirements: - Applicants must be age 18 by date of hire
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Required to work holidays, weekends, and irregular or rotating shifts
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Perform duties in support of SEAT Base operations. This includes routine repairs and maintenance on all pumps, equipment, and grounds ensuring compliance with FAA/airport guidelines and regulations. Must have the ability to perform strenuous physical labor. Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Preferred candidate will also have basic computer skills.
Essential Functions: (Detailed work instructions may vary in locations as needed.)
- Performs daily inspections of airport property to ensure compliance with FAA/Airport rules, regulations, and minimum standards. Reports discrepancies and assists with any corrective actions.
- Performs a variety of routine and complex preventive maintenance on equipment including but not limited to safety inspections, checking fluids, lubrication, and filter changes.
- Performs general maintenance, basic carpentry, and plumbing.
- Assures proper storage and disposal of all hazardous materials.
- Responds and assists with aircraft and non-aviation emergencies.
- Responds promptly to frequent call-in and on-call situations.
- Preferred candidate will have basic wildland fire experience or knowledge.

An additional Pay of $.60/hr. is available for EMT or CDL certification. Please include both the beginning and ending dates you are available for employment.
