Help Lead Positive Behavioral Change as Our Behavior Support Manager
Aurora Plains Academy is seeking a motivated and experienced Behavior Support Manager (BSM) to oversee crisis prevention and behavioral intervention programming within our residential treatment program.
This role is responsible for managing the Safe Crisis Management (SCM) program, supporting staff in effective behavior management strategies, reviewing incident documentation, and working closely with the treatment team to improve behavioral outcomes for youth.

Key Responsibilities
Crisis Prevention & Safe Crisis Management
Lead the Safe Crisis Management (SCM) program, including staff training, certification, and implementation.
Provide coaching and mentoring to staff on effective crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
Ensure staff certifications and training requirements remain current.
Incident Review & Documentation
Review camera footage of physical interventions to ensure proper procedures were followed.
Identify trends or areas for improvement related to crisis interventions.
Review and ensure completeness of ESPI reports, including:
Face-to-face assessments
Staff observations
Written orders
Release documentation
Youth and staff debriefs
Document findings and provide feedback to leadership when necessary.
Behavioral Program Oversight
Identify behavioral trends and help develop strategies to address patterns in youth behavior.
Support the development of behavior support plans and staff education.
Provide follow-up coaching and debriefs with Youth Care Workers after incidents when needed.
Collaboration with Treatment Team
Participate in weekly department head meetings, quarterly PQI reviews, and annual goal setting.
Collaborate with the treatment team to identify therapeutic needs of residents.
Assist in developing behavioral interventions and therapeutic programming.
Therapeutic Programming Support
Research and develop activities and interventions that support youth development.
Encourage residents to build coping skills and emotional regulation strategies.
Monitor and report youth participation and progress in therapeutic activities.
Program Development & Compliance
Research and develop behavior management practices that align with state and federal regulations.
Assist in developing programmatic solutions to improve behavior management across the residential program.
On-Call & Crisis Support
Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years old
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services preferred, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Associate’s degree in Social Work may be considered
Must be willing to become a Certified Instructor in Safe Crisis Management (SCM)
Must be willing to obtain Licensed Social Worker (LSW) certification
Experience working with youth in behavioral health, residential treatment, or related settings preferred
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
Must pass a caregiver/criminal background check
Must provide documentation authorizing legal employment in the United States
