Job Summary:

Directs and supervises the activities of building maintenance and grounds staff in the operation and maintenance of buildings and grounds. Identifies areas needing repairs or improvements and assigning personnel and resources to make the repairs or improvements to enhance the appearance of and maintain the buildings and grounds of SDDC.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Driver's License preferred.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

An ideal Building Maintenance Supervisor is a strong leader who effectively schedules, trains, supports and monitors maintenance staff to ensure 24/7 facility safety and survey readiness.

Knowledge of:

  • the principles and practices of the trades supervised;
  • safety measures and occupational hazards of the trades;
  • effective methods of supervision;
  • balance daily work orders with long-term projects.


Skill to:

  • match specific work orders to the technical strengths, speed, and specialization of individual staff members;
  • enforce completion windows by establishing realistic timelines, tracking progress data, and holding staff accountable;
  • conduct regular quality audits on finished work to verify repairs meet strict healthcare and structural standards.


Ability to:

  • establish and maintain effective supervisory relationships;
  • plan and schedule work assignments;
  • to keep records;
  • read, interpret, and work from sketches, blueprints, and specifications;
  • keep thorough and accurate records;
  • deal tactfully with others;
  • communicate information clearly and concisely;
  • perform tasks in the trade areas supervised.
