JOB TITLE: Buildings and Grounds Maintenance
PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment by performing a wide variety of cleaning, upkeep and maintenance activities in County buildings and on grounds.
Wage Range: $20.50 - $22.00 experience dependent
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience Required: A combination of education, experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
License Requirements: Possession of a valid South Dakota Driver’s License.
Other Requirements:
Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances;
Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices;
Ability to operate normal building maintenance equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, brooms, mops, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, snow blowers, plows, etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Identify facilities, equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Understanding of and the ability to perform basic routine maintenance on various building systems to include heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- Cleaning offices, restrooms and other common areas
- Maintain outer premises by mowing, watering, sweeping and shoveling.
- Performs maintenance and minor repairs (replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, minor leaks, painting etc.)
- Performs other work as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Uses various chemicals to clean and sanitize floors and fixtures.
- Occasionally uses ladders.
- Works both inside and outside in all weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE POSITION:
- Frequent walking, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting
- Lifting-Frequently 5 to 30 lbs. or less; occasional–30 to 70 lbs.
- Dexterity-Frequent holding, reaching; grasping; occasional repetitive motion
- Occasional exposure to hazardous materials
