The State Fire Marshal's Office is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized
Chief Deputy Fire Marshal to assists in the overall administration and operation of the State Fire Marshal's Office. This position serves as the acting Fire Marshal in the State Fire Marshal's absence and is responsible for supervising and assigning investigations, reviewing plans and inspections, interpreting and applying fire and building codes, and providing technical guidance to fire service professionals, design professionals, state agencies, and the public. The Deputy ensures that fire safety policies, codes, and standards are applied consistently statewide to protect life, property, and the environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:- proven customer service skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders;
- high level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive or confidential information;
- demonstrated initiative in identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy;
- strong organizational and administrative skills with experience in billing, invoicing, or financial recordkeeping;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- strong attention to detail and customer service orientation.
Knowledge of:
- fire prevention, fire inspection, fire investigation, or related code enforcement work;
- building and fire codes;
- fire protection system design and plan review;
- supervisory or administrative experience in a fire service or public safety agency;
- international Building, Fire, and Mechanical Codes and applicable NFPA standards;
- knowledge of fire protection system design, construction principles, and inspection practices.
Ability to:
- analyze complex plans and technical documents;
- manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines with accuracy;
- deal tactfully with others;
- convey the states position on fire and life safety issues;
- communicate information clearly and concisely;
- prepare detailed inspection and investigation reports.
