The Department of Social Services is seeking a dynamic and visionary Regional Manager to oversee Child Protection Services operations in Region 7 (Southeast South Dakota).

This is your opportunity to lead essential human services, shape programs, ensure operational excellence, and support frontline teams dedicated to child safety and family well-being.

This position is currently responsible for Child Protection Service delivery in Union, Clay, Yankton, Bon Homme, Charles Mix, Douglas, Aurora, Davison, Turner, Hutchinson, Hanson, and McCook counties, known internally as "CPS Region 7." Service delivery is administered through offices located in Lake Andes, Mitchell, Vermillion, and Yankton. Service delivery boundaries and office locations are subject to change based on agency needs.

Although Sioux Falls CPS operations are not under this position's direct supervision, the Regional Manager will also be required to provide collaborative support and assistance to Sioux Falls-office operations serving Minnehaha and Lincoln Counties as necessary to meet program and operational needs.

What You'll Do

As the Regional Manager, you will:

• Provide leadership and direction for Child Protection Services operations across Region 7.

• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, departmental rules, policies, and procedures.

• Manage regional human resources functions, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and staff development.

• Evaluate and enhance program effectiveness to improve outcomes and service delivery.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure operational integrity and efficiency.

• Represent the Department in public forums, address complaints, and respond to inquiries from customers and constituents.

• Lead regional initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and foster a culture of accountability and innovation.

• Support other regions with administrative duties and operational support, as needed.

Education and Experience:

• A bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences, human services, business administration, public administration, education, public health, or a related field.

• Comparable leadership experience in program or operations management may be considered in place of educational requirements; relevant experience in human or social services may also be taken into account.

• manage staff performance, provide coaching, and take appropriate personnel actions when needed;

• communicate clearly in writing and verbally with stakeholders at all levels.
