Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota invites applications for a full-time position in Athletic Training. The successful candidate will provide athletic training services for a variety of intercollegiate NAIA sports. Specific sport coverage responsibilities will be determined based on a candidate’s strengths, prior professional experience, and the needs of the athletic training department. Opportunities may also be available to teach occasional courses within the university’s Department of Health & Human Performance and/or prerequisite courses for the Master of Athletic Training programs, depending on the candidate’s education & background.
Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
The DWU Master of Athletic Training Education Program is a CAATE accredited program. This position will also serve as a preceptor for this educational program.
The successful candidate will:
- Possess BOC Certification and be eligible for SD State Licensure.
- Prevent, treat and manage athletic injuries as well as general medical conditions
- Assist with athletic sport coverage – including practices and games.
- Master’s degree strongly preferred (possible exception for individuals with extensive, successful, documented professional experience).
- Ability to mentor athletic training students and facilitate a wholesome learning environment (ie in the role of a clinical preceptor)
- Familiar/willingness to learn and utilize electronic medical records and data tracking systems
- Be committed to mentoring students as a preceptor.
