Commercial Lender

Sentinel Federal Credit Union is growing and is seeking an energetic, experienced professional to serve as the Commercial Lender.  The Commercial Lender will oversee the business lending functions of the Credit Union and will take the lead on the further development of the Credit Union’s Business/Commercial Lending strategy.  The Commercial Lender will be responsible for servicing an existing commercial loan portfolio as well as ongoing development of the commercial and business lending program for the Credit Union. This position will provide underwriting input of new business/commercial loan requests to Credit Analyst.  The Commercial Lender will review the commercial and Ag loan policies and procedures to ensure that these policies are aligned with Sentinel’s growth and quality objectives. 

This position will provide training, guidance and mentorship to other Sentinel team members throughout the lending function to assist others on the business/commercial lending process.  The Commercial Lender will recommend policies and procedures (both new and revisions to existing) and reports periodically to the Credit Union’s Board of Directors. The Commercial Lender will use extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and any specialized training to further develop and implement changes to the Commercial Lending department. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or other Business-related field; or equivalent industry experience.
  • Five or more years of commercial lending, Ag lending, credit analysis and successful business development activities is required.
  • Experience in credit administration is preferred.
  • Ability to order and review appraisals is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making and analytical skills.
  • Planning and scheduling skills to meet organizational and member-related deadlines and requirements.
  • Proven track record of ability to effectively communicate with others on the Management Team, and internal staff.
  • Strong attention-to-detail and organizational skills, and able to handle multiple priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
