First Presbyterian Church Dir of Contemporary Music
Part- time Exempt
Purpose: Provide music leadership for contemporary worship experiences; guide, train and direct members of the congregation and worship band who offer their musical talents to the glory of God.
Reports to the Senior Pastor/ Head of Staff
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates with Pastor and other staff to lead contemporary services; Actively recruits and trains members of the worship team and praise band; Selects and prepares music and conducts rehearsals; Maintains proper licensing and ensures compliance with copyright regulations;Coordinates the setup and breakdown of worship space (microphones, instruments, etc); Maintains music equipment and supplies; Attends worship planning meetings and Worship Design Ministry Team meetings in order to coordinate all music with the Scripture and worship themes; Other duties as assigned.
Basic Requirements:
Creativity enthusiasm and flexibility; Knowledge of contemporary music in a mainline congregation; Experience leading contemporary worship in a multi-generational setting; An appreciation for a wide variety of worship music including traditional music; Knowledge of techniques to conduct rehearsals for vocal and instrumental performances; Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, worship team members, and the congregation; Ability to portray the vision of the church; Ability to exhibit demeanor appropriate to a place of worship
Education and Experience Requirements:
Any combination of music education and experience that enhances the performance of all duties of the position in a skillful, efficient and inspirational manner.
