Position Summary
The Controller is responsible for the financial and fiscal management aspects of company operations. Provide leadership, coordination, and process improvement in the accounting, business planning, and administrative areas of the organization.
Essential Functions
- Present and report accurate and timely historical financial information of the company.
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Responsible for the consistent and accurate processing of business accounting activities including billing, AR, AP, general ledger, and job costing.
- Process payroll and review weekly register.
- Prepare annual operating budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data and recommending plans.
- Prepare accurate financial monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting package.
- Monitor and confirm financial condition by complying with GAAP and coordinating with external Certified Public Accountants on year-end reports, tax returns, and audits.
- Maintain all company bank accounts.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual filings to ensure compliance with state, federal and other regulatory bodies.
- Train, supervise and evaluate department staff.
- Actively participate with the leadership team to define and implement strategic and forecasting goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, CPA preferred.
- Experience working in a small and/or family-owned business preferred.
- Five years of supervisory experience required.
- Five years of construction industry or related experience required.
