This is a Part-Time >= 20 Hours Weekly position with the Department of Labor & Regulation. For more information on Labor & Regulation, please visit https://dlr.sd.gov/ .

The part-time inspector for the Cosmetology Commission and Board of Barber Examiners will complete the following duties:

• Complete inspections of new and existing cosmetology and barbering businesses across South Dakota.
• Complete inspection reports and provide copies of reports to licensees and business owners.
• Assist with the investigative and compliance functions of the office by investigating allegations of statutory and/or regulatory violations.
• Provide technical assistance to staff, stakeholders, and licensees
• Assist the office with various administrative tasks related to school and business licensing.
• Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Knowledge of:

• state laws and administrative rules pertaining to the regulation of barbering and cosmetology practices.

Ability to:

• interpret and properly apply laws and administrative rules;
• spend multiple hours per day in a vehicle travelling to complete inspections;
• use computer applications and software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Sharepoint).
