Job Description

A Crane Rigger is responsible for machines that can lift loads weighing eight tons and up with booms that are more than 100 meters long. Crane Rigger is responsible for the safe handling of concrete products and the safety of the individuals working in the area.

Essential Functions

  • Safe work practices at all times, ensuring the safety of all employees in the area
  • Regular inspections to ensure equipment meets all operational and safety requirements
  • Operate equipment within safe, allowable tolerances
  • Work longer hours with frequent shifts over 10 hours
  • Work in adverse weather conditions, including heat and cold
  • Work at heights of greater than 10 feet and on uneven surfaces
  • Handling and rigging concrete products requiring excellent balance, eye-hand coordination and attention to detail
  • Awareness of surroundings and ever-changing environment at all times
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Contribute to company morale and group commitment to goals

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of crane operation and capacities
  • Knowledge and skill to use proper rigging, as well as rigging BM and capacity
  • Understanding of action and reaction relating to heavy objects
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly, 40 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including heat and cold
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces, climb ladders and work on platforms and in high places
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
  • Excellent attendance
  • Ability to comply with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements

Education, Training and Experience

  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
  • Regularly works near moving objects and in climate conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and concrete
  • Noise levels vary within facility. Hearing protection may be required in loud areas
  • Occasionally required to wear fall protection equipment and/or half mask respirator
  • Safety/Steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses required
