Job Summary:
The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating custodial operations to ensure all facilities remain clean, safe, and well maintained. This position oversees daily workflows, assigns tasks, and provides training and guidance to custodial staff. The supervisor monitors cleaning standards, enforces safety procedures, and promptly addresses sanitation or general maintenance needs.
In partnership with Facility Operations leadership, the Custodial Supervisor manages cleaning supplies and equipment, supports operational goals, and fosters a positive and productive team environment. This role is essential in upholding SDDC's quality standards and ensuring clients, staff, and visitors experience a well-maintained environment.
Key responsibilities include arranging work schedules, assigning work areas, conducting inspections, and overseeing preparation and cleanup for special events. The Custodial Supervisor interviews, hires, trains, disciplines, and evaluates staff performance. They maintain an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies, ensure expenditures remain within budget, and recommend equipment or material replacements as needed. The supervisor also identifies and reports facility or equipment repair needs to prevent further damage or costly repairs.
In addition to supervisory duties, this position assists with hands-on-cleaning tasks such as dusting, scrubbing, waxing floors, vacuuming carpets, and washing windows and walls. Other duties may be assigned as required.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- cleaning methods, materials, chemicals, and equipment.
- safety standards, including OSHA requirements and safe chemical handling.
- basic facility maintenance practices.
- scheduling, staffing, and workflow planning.
- inventory control for custodial supplies and equipment.
- moves, lifts, carries, and arranges furniture, equipment, and other objects.
- removes ice, snow and debris from sidewalks, streets and grounds to make areas accessible for safe operations
Skill to:
- supervising and training custodial staff effectively.
- organizing daily and long-term cleaning operations.
- conducting inspections to ensure quality and compliance.
- problem solving operational issues quickly and efficiently.
- communicating clearly with team members, and management.
- using facility management software or digital tools for scheduling, work orders, and reporting.
Ability to:
- lead teams in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- prioritize tasks and adjust staffing based on needs.
- maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- lift, move, and handle equipment as needed for custodial tasks.
- build positive working relationships and resolve interpersonal issues.
