Job Title:  Custodian II - Building Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:                           Directs and provides custodial services in assigned building(s) to promote efficient practices that result in clean and attractive facilities; supervises and works with custodial staff and substitutes assigned to facilities; coordinates with administration on scheduling and activities.

Pay rate:  $26.91-$29.41/hour depending on experience

Job Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION LEVEL: High School Diploma
EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Three years experience in institutional cleaning and general maintenance, with at least one year supervising custodial staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to exert 75-100 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps; bend, stoop, walk, crawl, and reach overhead; exhibit the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools handle and work with various materials and objects, use phone and computer; see and read computer screen and printed material with or without visual aids; hear and understand speech indoors, outdoors, and on phone; take appropriate action in emergency situations; and, follow procedures in a calm, responsible manner.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess the ability to train and supervise skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled personnel; read and interpret building plans; collaborate with internal and external personnel. Must be capable of working varying shifts and responding to emergency situations as needed. Current state vehicle operator’s license; ability to operate all vehicles in the district custodial fleet safely; insurable.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work will be conducted indoors and outside. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humidity, or windy conditions may occasionally be experienced.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervises the building’s custodial staff.
2. Coordinates with Buildings and Grounds Manager on training of all entry level custodians.
3. Establishes and maintains sound interdepartmental working relationships.
4. Coordinates with administration on all building activities and schedules coverage of custodial staff.
5. Inspects the performance of custodial staff members, adjusts workload and assignments to compensate for employee absences and emergencies.
6. Assists in the evaluation of custodian job performance and recommends disciplinary action.
7. Maintains inventory and orders and replenishes custodial and maintenance supplies for the building.
8. Coordinates and assists in preventive and corrective maintenance on building environment systems, fixtures and furnishings.
9. Monitors and operates heating, air conditioning, ventilation, water, sewer, electrical and mechanical building environment systems.
10. Checks operation of fire alarm system.
11. Sweeps, dusts, arranges furniture, empties trash and pencil sharpeners, cleans chalk boards and sets up for activities. Washes walls, woodwork and windows, and cleans and polishes metal surfaces. Cleans and maintains hard and soft surface floors. Wet mops and spot cleans hard and soft surface floors. Coordinates and assists with cleaning, sanitizing and deodorizing restrooms and locker rooms.
12. Coordinates and assists in the maintenance of concrete and blacktop surfaces and playgrounds, including snow and ice removal from pedestrian walkways.
13. Coordinates and assists with setup and teardown of activities.
14. Opens and secures building as required.
15. Works a revised schedule during emergency periods and substitutes for other custodial staff when necessary.
16. Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day and weekend activities with other custodial staff.
17. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
18. Continues personal professional growth and upgrading of skills.
19. Completes all trainings and other compliance requirements as assigned by designated deadline.
20. Respects and practices confidentiality both in and out of school with regard to records, activities, and communications relating to all students, parents/guardians, and staff.
21. Performs other duties as assigned.
