JOB DESCRIPTION

For the Position of:

Deputy Finance Officer

GENERAL PUPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Full time 40-hour position working Mon-Thurs 8-5 and Friday 8-12 noon

To assist the Finance Officer in Customer Relations and Accounting Operations

Reading & Billing of Water Charges in a timely manner to generate operating revenue for the City

Remind fellow Employees of scheduled happenings

Make Deposits from Funds from the Golf Course, Pool and Utility Payments

Assist staff with the Day-to-Day operations of the Pool and Utilities as needed

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Major responsibilities and accomplishments expected of the position including the typical problems encountered in carrying out the elements of the job)

Read water meters in town / Send out 425 water bills per month

Receive, Deposit and Record all monies paid to the City (Pool, Water, Golf Course, & etc)

Record all entries in the Water Billing Program

Deposit all monies from State & County

Oversee Pool staff /schedule

Send out delinquent notices, blue cards monthly

Get Mail on a regular basis

Send out billing notices to golf course patrons as needed

Bill for Liquor markup monthly

Write / Type Vouchers & Memos

Ability to operate at interpret Beacon AMA dashboard interface for water meters, including notifying patrons of detected water leaks

Assist Finance Officer with Checkbook Balancing, Assist with City Council Meeting Preparation, City Council Minutes

Send out Dog License Reminders

Order, Pickup & Price all Pool & Golf Concessions

Any other duties assigned by the Council

Record Special Assessments

KNOWLEDGE:

Ability to run & maintain Water Billing Software and Payroll Program

Ability to understand City Government

Ability to run Microsoft Office Programs such as Word & Excel

Know a lot of patrons by name and/or address

SKILLS:

Able to deal with the Public on a daily basis (phone and in person)

Well organized and neat

Strong Math skills for calculating customer bills & payments

Flexible

Willing to try new things

Shovel the front walks

Ability to walk in all types of weather while reading water meters

Ability to lift basic office items (copier paper, pool concessions, etc)

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Temperature Extremes while reading meters

Access to some meters-overgrowth, snow, ice, etc.

Icy, snowy sidewalks

MENTAL DEMANDS:

Knowledge of City Laws & Governmental Codes

Ability to handle several different items at the same time

Maintain the Integrity of City Information

Handle irate patrons
