Full-Time, Non-Exempt: Monday - Friday Schedule
$165,000 - $192,000 Annually (DOE)

We are looking for a Deputy General Counsel to join our Legal team.

This role is ideal for an experienced attorney who enjoys serving as a strategic business partner while providing practical legal guidance across a growing organization. You'll play a key role by advising business leaders, negotiating commercial agreements, supporting regulatory compliance, and helping manage enterprise legal risk. In this role, you'll partner with leaders across the organization, provide legal guidance on strategic initiatives, and help shape ECG's legal strategy while serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership.

What You'll Do

  • Provide practical legal guidance to leaders across the organization on a variety of business and legal matters
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements and other legal documents
  • Support corporate governance activities, strategic initiatives, and business transactions
  • Partner with leaders to identify and mitigate enterprise legal and regulatory risk
  • Provide legal support for regulatory compliance initiatives and corporate policies
  • Assist with litigation management, regulatory inquiries, and other legal matters
  • Conduct legal research and communicate complex legal concepts in a practical, business-focused manner
  • Improve legal department processes, workflows, and operational efficiencies
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships while serving as a trusted legal advisor
  • Assume responsibility for legal department operations in the General Counsel's absence

Job Requirements

Required Experience

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active bar membership in good standing
• Minimum of three years of legal experience within the financial services industry or advising financial services organizations
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent legal writing, negotiation, and communication abilities
• Ability to interpret complex legal issues and communicate practical business solutions
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across business functions
• Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, confidentiality, and integrity

Preferred Experience

• Corporate governance and board support
• Commercial contract drafting and negotiation
• Regulatory compliance within financial services
• Government investigations or regulatory inquiries
• Licensing and corporate transactions
• Enterprise risk management
• Banking, fintech, or commercial lending experience
• Experience serving as a strategic business advisor to executive leadership
