Reports To: Managing Director

Job Type: Full-time, exempt

Position Supervises: Director of Out-of-School Time Programs, Out-of-School Time Operations Manager, Camp POSTCARD Coordinator, Axis180 Director

Work Schedule: Full-time position requiring flexibility in scheduling

POSITION SUMMARY

Serves as a member of the Executive Team of Volunteers of America, Dakotas, a non-profit organization that is called by the Gospel to guide people to live healthy and fulfilling lives. Works with the Managing Director, staff, and board and assists in the development and implementation of directives, strategies and goals consistent with the mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS STATEMENT(S)

  • Leadership & Strategic Planning
  1. Guide strategic planning, including facilitating the process of setting strategic initiatives, developing action plans, and monitoring progress toward goals.
  2. Supervise leadership staff and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
  3. Develop and pursue coaching or mentoring relationships for succession planning.
  • Program Oversight & Quality
  1. Oversee operations of school-based out-of-school time programs, Camp POSTCARD, and Axis180, ensuring quality assurance, service delivery, and continuous quality improvement.
  2. Facilitate program teams to meet or exceed licensing and accreditation standards and implement continuous quality improvement.
  3. Serve as a liaison to law enforcement partners regarding Camp POSTCARD.
  4. Maintain positive working relationships with program partners.
  5. Manage state and federal grants and contracts, ensuring data integrity and achievement of outcomes.
  6. Serve youth as needed, including covering ratio for out-of-school time or on-call for Axis180
  7. Work with staff and clients to navigate challenges
  8. Attend Camp POSTCARD, a week-long summer camp
  • Finance & Compliance
  1. Work with the finance team to develop annual budgets and monitor financial performance, making adjustments as needed.
  2. Oversee local, state, and federal funding to ensure compliance with all requirements and reporting expectations.
  • Community Engagement & Advocacy
  1. Represent VOA Dakotas on the Sioux Falls School District Community Learning Centers Executive Committee, attending regular meetings and advocating for VOA Dakotas’ best interests.
  2. Participate in forums, committees, and partnerships that enhance programming and advocacy for participants and staff.
  3. Serve as a spokesperson, effectively communicating with community leaders, donors, schools, and other stakeholders.
  • Development & Marketing
  1. Work with internal marketing and development teams to raise awareness and secure funding for programs.
  2. Support United Way application and allocation processes and maintain strong partnerships with community agencies.

  1. Ensure program services engage the mind, body, and spirit, promoting holistic well-being.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred) and 5-7 years of leadership experience in human services

Experience: Senior leadership experience with demonstrated success in team building, compliance, and strategic planning.

Skills: Strategic thinker, decisive, collaborative, and committed to the mission.
