The Director of Financial Aid and Business Services, reporting directly to the Vice President for Finance and Administration, serves on the University Leadership Council. This critical role coordinates student financial aid, ensures university regulatory compliance, and provides strategic input into the development of the university budget.

The role oversees all federal, state, institutional, and private student financial aid programs, including scholarships, grants, student employment, loan programs, sponsorships, and veterans’ benefits. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations and serves as the designated administratively capable individual overseeing the administration of all Title IV programs and non-federal student financial assistance. The position also provides direct supervision and guidance to a team of employees, including assigning work, supporting professional development, and ensuring effective day-to-day operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all financial aid operations, including awarding, verification, satisfactory academic progress, professional judgment, reconciliation, and compliance.
  • Supervise and provide day-to-day leadership for assigned staff, including delegation of duties, performance management, and professional development.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to improve efficiency, compliance, and student service.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, NAIA, and institutional regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and manage the department budget and oversee responsible stewardship of institutional, state, and federal financial aid funds.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement operational updates to maintain compliance.
  • Serve on the University Leadership Council, contributing to university-wide direction and decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop staff.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in finance, banking, or related field.
  • Experience with university financial aid regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Title IV federal financial aid regulations and compliance requirements.
