POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Prevention Services leads the overall strategy, development, and implementation of prevention programs aimed at empowering communities through education and outreach. This role oversees the dissemination of critical information, working with the marketing team to ensure that prevention services reach schools, agencies, and professionals. As the public face of the program, the director builds and maintains strong relationships with community partners, representing the organization in various professional forums.

In addition to managing external outreach, the Director of Prevention Services facilitates training and technical assistance to meet current and future needs, ensuring quality service delivery. With a focus on both programmatic and financial oversight, the director manages budgets and collaborates with the development team to promote the organization’s training services. This leadership role is key to creating impactful prevention efforts and nurturing a positive, supportive environment for both staff and the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS STATEMENT(S)

Information Dissemination

  • Work with marketing/communications to develop and disseminate information about prevention services.
  • Oversee the development and distribution of a quarterly prevention newsletter for schools, agencies and preventionists.
  • Serve as a spokesperson, communicating effectively with professionals, businesses, agencies and schools.
  • Serve as website liaison to Marketing and Technology departments.

Staff

  • Recruit, hire and supervise staff and contract trainers.
  • Facilitate staff meetings.
  • Attend leadership and administrative team meetings and work with other program leaders.

Training and Technical Assistance

  • Work with staff to provide and coordinate prevention services, training and technical assistance.
  • Identify current and future prevention services and training needs of the service area.
  • Ensure that evaluations are conducted and that technical assistance and follow-up of prevention services and training are provided.

Financial Development

  • Prepare and monitor the Prevention Service’s budget.
  • Work with marketing, development and administrative team to market and promote training services.

Responsible to carry out other duties as assigned to support program operations and goals.

POSITIONS QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Advanced degree in education, counseling or related human service field and a minimum of three years’ experience of successful administrative experience or a bachelor’s degree in education or social services and a minimum of five years of successful administrative experience

Experience: Experience as a trainer preferred

Skills: Leadership and team management, community outreach and relationship building, strategic communication, program development and evaluation, budget management, knowledgeable in coordinating and delivering training services, problem-solving and decision-making, adaptability and forward-thinking, and collaboration and teamwork.

Certifications & Licenses: Certified Prevention Specialist preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

A. Ability to Stand, Walk, sit, manually manipulate, reach outward and above shoulders, speak, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend daily

B. Capability to push or pull up to 50 lbs and lift or carry up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis
