REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION LEVEL:

Two years successful post high school education.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

At least one year of work experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills and knowledge of strategies to support students with challenging behaviors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination, keyboarding and telephoning. Frequent bending, twisting and floor to standing.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Regular, reliable attendance. Experience with behavior management. Knowledge of strategies to manage behavior. Ability to use a computer for word processing and data entry. Ability to maintain confidential information. Regular contact with students with emotional, cognitive and/or conduct-related disorders. Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training preferred. Discrete Trial training preferred.

COMPREHENSIVE BACKGROUND CHECK:

Candidates are required to complete a comprehensive background check, including a state and FBI criminal history check with fingerprinting, a sex offender registry check, and a child abuse and neglect registry check. All components must be completed prior to the start of employment and repeated every five years thereafter.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

  1. Support students in the general classroom and alternative learning settings to manage behaviors and support learning.
  2. Establishes a positive rapport with students, co-workers and parents which conveys enthusiasm and caring.
  3. Works cooperatively with team members to outline a behavior plan and evaluate the plan's appropriateness and need for modifications. Demonstrates knowledge of behavioral strategies.
  4. Works with individual students in 1:1 and small group settings to reinforce behavioral goals/objectives outlined by the problem-solving team.
  5. Document student progress on behavior and goals.
  6. Conducts observations and collects classroom teacher documentation needed for referral and reintegration procedures.
  7. Works collaboratively with district staff and families to create supportive, inclusive, and respectful learning environments for all students, particularly students who exhibit challenging behaviors.
  8. Participates in the implementation and revision of student behavior programs.
  9. Supervises student activities, when needed.
  10. Participates in professional development as required and when requested by the District.
  11. Supports personal cares of students (washing hands, bath rooming, eating, etc.)
  12. May be assigned to more than one school by supervisors.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

PAY INFORMATION

Starting at $23.23 per hour

Pay Day: Last working day of each month.

HOURS & FTE

Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Some Fridays required - see calendar for details.

0.8 FTE, 32 hours per week, 9 months
