Job Summary & Requirements

Job Summary:

This position will serve as the lead administrator to the company's EHS program and conduct regular audits and ensures internal reporting is completed and the company stays compliant with guidelines and regulations. The EHS Coordinator should possess detailed knowledge of health and safety regulations and demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to easily and effectively communication with all levels of the organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead administrator and auditor for Environmental, Health and Safety compliance under the direction of the plant leadership team.
  • Collaborate with management team to ensure established EHS goals and objectives are carried out.
  • Review safety related Standard Operating Procedures at least annually to ensure they are up to date and accurate.
  • Ensure emergency response plans are up to date and administer drills to test effectiveness.
  • Lead the Safety Team and organize monthly meetings.
  • Coordinate First Aide and CPR training and renewal for employees.
  • Create Safety Alerts as needed.
  • Conduct Safety Audits on a regular basis and create corrective actions to resolve any found issues.
  • Create weekly Safety Related Tool Box messages.
  • Participate in investigation of workplace incidents and near misses and participate in root cause analysis.
  • Follow up with supervisors to ensure incident reports are turned in and completed on time and internal reports are completed.
  • Report any safety concerns or issues that are found through audits and investigations to the General Manager and follow up as directed by the GM.
  • Refer employee concerns to the General Manager and HR Manager.
  • Understand and assist in upholding key safety initiatives and regulatory compliance under the direction of the VP of Technology & Process Improvement.
  • Provide updated training modules for the Learning Management System to ensure annual training is conducted on time under the direction of the HR Manager.
  • Develop an understanding of Environmental Regulatory Compliance under the direction of the EHS Manufacturing Engineer to be able to act as a back up.
  • Be knowledgeable of OSHA standards and the latest EHS trends, policies, regulations and best practices
  • Foster a culture of health, safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed
  • Other projects/duties as assigned


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong familiarity and knowledge base involving OSHA, EPA and ANSI regulations preferred;
  • The ability to read and interpret safety data sheets
  • Strong desire to learn and develop
  • Ability to take direction and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills especially in English
  • Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to adjust and have availability according to business demand
  • Ability to work in both office and production environments on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and provide a positive work environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and other systems as required


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, safety management, or related (preferred)
  • 6 months experience in similar role (preferred)


Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms above and below shoulder level
  • Regularly stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Regularly communicate in some manner either by speech/hearing or through written communication.
  • Regularly use of vision abilities including close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly work around moving machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Frequently required to push/pull.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently exposed to high-speed moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to UV, strobing or flashing light.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes, dust or airborne particles.
  • Regularly exposed to moderate noise level in the work environment.
